Shoe size guide.
How children's feet grow?
In the first three years children's feet grow on average every 4 to 6 months. During the first 15 months of life his feet grows by approximately 3mm per month. From 15th month to two years the growth will be 2mm each three months. From 2 to 3 years old the growth is 3mm every three to four months.
Bear in mind that babies and children feet grow rapidly but not at a constant rate. Is very important to make sure that his shoes are not too small for his feet.
Tips for choosing the right shoe for children
At home the child should always be barefoot. Babies should loose their plantar grasp reflex in order to learn to walk correctly. This normally happens automatically due to tactile stimulation when they play with their feet or when he puts his feet on the floor. The more stimulation he receives on his foot plant when playing the sooner the reflex disappears.
Always chose natural materials
It is highly recommended that all materials employed in fabricating the shoe to be genuine leather.
Do not save on shoes
Do not save money on shoes. Almost certainly cheap shoes are made of synthetic materials in whole or partially. You can be price conscious but make sure that the shoe is 100% made in leather.
Summary
Allow the child to play and walk as much as possible and in barefoot or with socks. Always buy genuine leather shoes with a flexible sole, antiskid and make sure, regularly, he has the right size shoe for his feet.
Choosing the right size
The best for measuring is at the end of the day when his feet are more swollen. You have to measure with socks on.
It is advisable to make the child stand on a piece of paper with his back against the wall so he puts his weight on both feet. Then proceed to mark with a pencil a line where the longest toe ends.
Keep in mind, when walking; the foot is stretched as it touches the floor so it is convenient to add a further 1 cm to the measurement you have made.
Example: 15 +1cm we obtain 16 cm. In this case size 26 is the right one.
